Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has recently signed a new contract with Italian Serie A club Udinese.
The 24-year-old joined The Little Zebras last summer from Watford in a deal worth around €2m, and slowly worked his way up to first-choice goalkeeper, keeping five clean sheets in 21 league games, helping the side avoid relegation.
His fine run of form towards the end of last season earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles 2026 squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Benin Republic and South Africa under Finidi George in June.
However, he did not play for Nigeria and Stanley Nwabali retained his place as the team’s starting goalkeeper.
Amid interest from two Italian clubs, the German-born Nigerian has signed a new contract with Udinese, extending his stay until 2028.
“We are still together, more than ever. Udinese Calcio and Maduka Okoye have renewed the contract that will link the Nigerian goalkeeper to the black and white club until June 30, 2028.
Maduka has earned a prominent role over the past season, demonstrating a high level of performance that has made him one of the best-performing goalkeepers in the championship.
His renewal demonstrates his desire and that of the Club to continue the journey together with renewed enthusiasm and ambition.”
Maduka Okoye’s new deal with Udinese represents an important milestone in his career.
Not only does it open new doors for personal and professional growth, but it also signals Udinese’s commitment to building a formidable team for the challenges ahead in Serie A.
