A 57 -year -old man, Ramon Animashaun, was accused on Thursday in a court of the magistrates of Iyaglowu, Ibadan, beyond an alleged fraud of N5.3 million.
Animashaun, whose address has not been provided, is facing a charge of two counts to obtain money with false claims and stealing, to which he declared himself not guilty.
The prosecutor, Asp Musbau Lawal, told the Court that the defendant committed the crimes on May 4, 2024, in the Ibadan Mokola area.
Lawal said that the defendant got the money from the complaint, Adisa Jimoh, on the pretext of selling a land of earth to him, but was unable to do it.
He said the accused converted the money for his personal use.
Lawal said that the crimes violated sections 419 and 390 (9) of the criminal law of the state of Oyo, 2000.
The magistrate, Mr. Olaolu Olaniipekun, granted the bail of the defendant in the sum of N1 million with two surety in similar sum and has updated the case until 14 July for mention.
