The Lagos State Police Command on Sunday said a 25-year-old contract staff, whose name was not released, allegedly jumped into an iron melting pot at his company and died.
The report also stated that the victim’s body was completely destroyed in the pot and was not found.
Spokesman of the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday.
He said the incident was reported by a company safety officer whose name was also withheld to the Sagamu Highway Police Division on August 3, at around 18.00 WIB.

Hundeyin said the company was located at Odogunyan Industrial Area in Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
He said that the safety officer reported that on that date, at around 15.15 WIB, contract staff who were part of the company’s AOD Section allegedly ran towards the iron smelting area which was beyond the reach of all staff during operations.
“He jumped into it and all the efforts made by his colleagues to stop him proved futile, as his body melted completely.
“Detectives from the police station attended the scene. The victim’s family has been contacted, while the investigation is ongoing,” Hundeyin said.
