A 25-year-old contract employee of a construction company has died after allegedly jumping into an iron foundry at the factory located on Shagamu Road, Ikorodu. Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the company’s security officer, whose name was not mentioned, reported the case to the traffic police division in Sagamu on August 3, at about 6pm. SP Hundeyin said the security officer reported that on the same date, at about 3.15pm, the contract employee assigned to the AOD section of the company allegedly ran into the iron foundry, which was out of bounds for all personnel during operation. “He jumped in and all the efforts made by his colleagues to stop him were in vain. His body was completely melted. Detectives from the station visited the crime scene. The deceased’s family has since been contacted, while the investigation is ongoing,” Hundeyin said.
