Premium Trust Bank

A high federal court of Lagos, Tuesday, ordered the postponement of five people, including a bank manager and a nursing mother, for presumably having hacked on the premium Trust Bank server.

The defendants are Matthew Damilola, the head of the Bank’s e-setting service, Kehinde Odeyemi (mother of a four-month-old child), Sansone Dakup, Bolaji Yinka and Sunday Okunnola.

The defendants were brought by the Commission for economic and financial crimes, EFCC, before the judge Alexander Owoeye on charges of conspiracy, computer crime and illegal access to the bank database.

The consultant prosecutor informed the Court that the crimes were committed between April and May 2025, presumably in collaboration with three others, Humble, Isa Ismaila and Victor Ilemona (Aka Oracle), who are currently in freedom.

According to EFCC, Damilola illegally disclosed sensitive credentials, including the Bank’s IP details and domain of the server, which allowed unauthorized access to the database of the Trust Premium bank.

The violation of the data would have involved financial earnings of $ 10,000.

The accusation also said that the co-accused attempted to intercept the bank network and procured a Hewlett-Packard Probook 440 G9 laptop (N. Serial SN#5CD2473N6G) configured to bypass the bank’s security systems.

He also stated that the alleged actions violated sections 12 (1) (b), 27, 28 (1) (b) (c) and 28 (3) of computer crimes (prohibition, prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 (modified in 2024) and are punishable pursuant to section 28 (2) of the same law.

All five defendants declared themselves not guilty.

Following their reason, the accusation required a process date and sought an order to send the defendants into custody.

The Court refused applications for oral deposit submitted by the defense and instead directed the presentation of formal deposit applications.

The issue was updated to 30 June 2025, for the trial.

In the meantime, the defendants were postponed to prison custody.

The judge added that the defense could request a date prior to the time of submitting their dismissal applications.
