Several people are feared dead after a small plane crashed into a California neighborhood before dawn on Thursday, destroying the houses and setting fire to the cars.
At least 10 houses were burned or affected by debris that spread on a large area and the cars on both sides of a road went on fire when the cessna 550 slammed on the ground in San Diego.
“There are more than one mortality that we have found so far, but we are waiting to obtain the recorded numbers that were on the plane itself,” said Dan Eddy, head of the San Diego firefighters.
“When he hit the road, while the fuel of the jet went down, he pulled out every single car that was on both sides of the road,” he said, adding: “We have fuel for jet everywhere.”
A resident told journalists that he had fled his home in a hurry.
“I looked out the window and there were only flames everywhere,” said the man, who did not give his name.
“Then we heard the chain reaction of boom, boom, boom, and I am like:” Whoa “.”
