Several residents have been killed after gunmen attacked Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
It is understood that the attack took place around 8pm on Sunday at a popular bar in the community, where the victims were said to have been hit by sporadic gunfire by gunmen suspected to be cultists.
It is learned that 12 people died in the accident, while many others were injured.
Following the attack, the Plateau State Government imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area.
Plateau State Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap, in a statement, said the curfew will come into effect from midnight on March 29 to April 1, 2026.
The commissioner added that the government, under the leadership of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, strongly condemned the attack and assured residents that security agencies were working to arrest those responsible.
He urged residents to remain calm, remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information to aid investigations.
