Mazzarri Admits Osimhen-Kvaratskhelia Partnership Failing

Napoli’s Coach, Walter Mazzarri reveals his ongoing struggle to unlock the formidable duo of Victor Osimhen and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia from the relentless marking imposed by opposing defenders.

The dynamic partnership of Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia played a pivotal role in guiding Napoli to last season’s Serie A title, earning them prestigious individual accolades.

However, this season has witnessed a dip in their stellar performances, contributing to Napoli’s descent to the seventh position in the Serie A standings.

Following the recent defeat to Roma, Mazzarri, who assumed the coaching reins from Rudi Garcia in November, acknowledged that rival teams seem to have decoded the attacking strategy of the two stars.

The Napoli gaffer, however assured the fans, of the coaching staff’s commitment to devising strategic solutions to revitalize Napoli’s attacking prowess.

“I was just saying today that if you go to a big club at a certain moment of the season, you do not have time for any training.

“When you play every three days, there’s nothing the fitness coach can do to get specialist work done to bring sharpness back. You have to wait for a break.”

“I agree, we have already tried a few things, for example Raspadori, but also movements from the wingers. We are trying those,” He said.

Napoli are leapfrogged in the table by Roma and slide down to seventh place, already four points adrift of Bologna in fourth.
