Meta has announced a series of new steps aimed at reducing spam content on Facebook as part of a broader encouragement to improve the bait experience and support the creator that makes and share interesting original content.
This update is designed to ensure that people see fresh and relevant posts while limiting visibility and monetization of content that seeks to manipulate distribution or involvement.
Speaking of the update, Oluwasola Obagbemi, Head of Communication for Sub-Sahara Africa in Meta, said, “We have heard from the user that Facebook feed does not always bring up fresh and attractive content that people enjoy, and SPAM posts often make authentic sounds.
” Our goal is to continue to create an environment in which the creator invested in meaningful content is recognized and valued. This change is part of our long -term investment in making the Facebook platform where the Creator can grow and people can be connected through high quality content. “

Key updates in new steps include:
Lower visibility for spam content: The spam network that makes hundreds of accounts to share the same content now will face the reduced range. Accounts that flood the platform with duplicate pole, irrelevant information, or excessive hashtags will not meet the requirements for monetization and will see a decrease in visibility in their feed.
Stronger enforcement of fake involvement and imitation: Meta increases its efforts to detect and delete fake accounts and pages that coordinate involvement or disguise as other people. In 2024 alone, this platform removed more than 100 million fake pages involved in the script to follow abuse and more than 23 million disguised accounts on Facebook. In addition to automatic identity checks, features have been added to moderation assists, Facebook comments management tools, to detect and comment on automatic comments from people who have the potential to use fake identities. The creator will also be able to report imitators directly in the comments. Meta also tests the comments feature so that people can give signals that are irrelevant or not in accordance with the spirit of the conversation.
