Meta reportedly replaces human risk assessors with AI in Major

Meta Platforms Inc., a parent company for Facebook, Instagram, and Utas, is said to replace human risk assessors with AI systems, according to some people with knowledge of internal activities.

This action is part of a larger movement to automate safety analysis, crisis predictions, and content moderation in all broad digital platforms of the company.

The shift, which is still at the launch stage, requires using AI models that are trained in large volumes of behavioral data and history of the event to replace the human team in charge of assessing the possibility of danger, such as violent content, disinformation, platform abuse, and coordinated damage.

With a new approach, engineers have more decision -making authorities, and the product team submitted questionnaires to accept decisions and direct risk recommendations.

In a series of decisions released in April, the Meta Supervisory Board punished the technology giant because of the practice of filtering its content while maintaining the company’s position by allowing a “controversial” speech.

“Because this change was launched globally, the council emphasized that now it is important that Meta identifies and overcomes the adverse effects on human rights that may occur from them,” the decision said. “This must include assessing whether to reduce its dependence on automatic detection of violations of policies can have uneven consequences globally, especially in countries that experience crisis today or recently, such as armed conflicts.”
