Former Governor of State Ondo, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has rejected a report that claims that he was appointed to lead the Presidential Consultation Team for former President Goodluck Jonathan 2027 in the Southwest, describing the publication as “rumors used in the news.”
The report, which circulated in a national newspaper, accused that Mimiko was chosen to lead a consultation ahead of the possibility of political return by Jonathan and that the nomination was recommended by the former Governor of the State of Osun and the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola.
Reacting in a statement issued by Akure by the former Head of the Press Secretary, Eni Akinsola, Mimiko firmly rejected the claim, insisted he was not contacted or appointed for the assignment of any campaign.
“The falsehood in this report is clear from the beginning. This is only the job of a journalist who flying with rumors made by dressing like news,” the statement said.
The former governor stated that while he held a former president at a high price, he had no involvement in the 2027 political mobilization or consultation related to Jonathan.
“Mimiko who I know respects former President Jonathan but is not achieved or appointed for a campaign that is still a subject-and may end as a subject-from fantastic speculation. I am sure he also does not hunt for work,” Akinsola added.

The statement further warned the public not to believe that fabrication that was political motivated, noted that when the political activities of the state gathered momentum, “The stories that are cooked like that will not be rare, especially about political figures like Iroko who have chosen to remain low for now.”
Meanwhile, the controversy followed the new statement by Professor Jerry Gana, a former Minister of Information and Supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), quoted stated that Goodluck Jonathan ** will compete for the 2027 Presidential Election.
Speaking to reporters after the PDP Congress in Minna, the state of Niger, Gana reportedly said: “I can confirm that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will compete for the presidential election in 2027 as a PDP candidate, and we must be prepared to vote for him to return as president again.”
Mimiko, however, explained that he did not have a role in such a step, confirmed that the story that connects him to the alleged political consultation of Jonathan is entirely wrong.
