Minister Enoh Commissionions Multimilia billions of naira cytice for onion processing in Kano

In a revolutionary development for the industrial transformation of Nigeria, the Minister for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh, commissioned the first phase of an advanced onion storage processing system in Kano.

This cutting -edge structure, owned by Prism Foods Limited, boasts a storage capacity of over 10,000 metric tons and represents an investment of ₦ 10 billion.

Currently using about 200 people, the plant is ready to revolutionize the storage and processing of onions in West Africa.

According to the CEO of Prism Foods Limited Aman GUPTA, the storage structure has an energy generation system with an expanded capacity of 240 tons and uses advanced temperature control systems to preserve the quality of the onions.

It is also equipped with fire containment measures to ensure the safety of stored products.

In his speech, Senator Enoh described the structure as the largest of its kind in the region, underlining the importance of industrial growth pursuant to Agenda 7 of the eight -point Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He underlined the need for collaborative, technologically guided and innovative efforts by individuals and organizations to combat food insecurity, unemployment and strengthening local production.

By encouraging further development, the minister urged the limited prism food CEO to accelerate the second phase of the project, which includes the creation of a processing center to convert onions to powder and other by -products.

By contacting the press, the minister recognized the ability of the plant to face post-branch losses and waste and also speaks of the agricultural and industrial growth of Nigeria, adding to the value of the initial product.

He reiterated the efforts of the federal government in ensuring that industries are assigned incentives to increase more initiatives through the bank loans.

The president of the national onions producers, transformers and marketing experts from Nigeria (Noppman) Aliyu Isa Maitasamu ensured their continuous support for greater productivity.

Governor Abbar Kabir Yusuf of the State of Kano, represented by Hon. Shehu Muhammad Sagagi, commissioner for industry, trade and investments, expressed gratitude to the federal government for his support.

He praised the Minister’s visit as a step towards the updating of the renewed agenda of the hope of President Tinubu.

The governor has asked for greater federal collaboration to establish centers of collection of onions on a small scale and structured access to funding for Kano farmers to resize production and adopt improved technologies.

Governor Yusuf proposed the establishment of a National Cipolla Council to supervise quality standards and coordinate the production clusters, ensuring sustainable growth for the onion industry in Nigeria.
