Morocco beat Argentina 2-1 in a dramatic men’s football match that took four hours to reach its conclusion at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Group B opener took place at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on Wednesday at 2:00pm local time and following crowd trouble, the game continued until it finally ended at around 6:00pm.
Fans appeared to throw missiles at the players after Argentina’s equaliser in the 16th minute of added time made it 2-2, leaving Morocco stunned.

The players were then carried off the pitch before an equaliser was ruled out by VAR almost two hours later as play resumed for the final three minutes in an empty stadium.
Cristian Medina’s late equaliser was ruled out after VAR showed the Argentine was offside.
The late goal sparked an angry reaction from some Moroccan fans who threw bottles and flares onto the pitch, while others stormed the pitch.
With this win, Morocco sits top of Group B, while Iraq and Ukraine – the other two countries in the group – have just started their matches in Lyon.
