Murder of the Plateau: LG boss reduces new attacks, calls to security agencies to stop raging militias

Chairman of the Bokkos Regional Government Area in the State Plateau, Amalau Samuel Amalau has raised concerns over new attacks by alleged militias on the council, which has caused the murder of a number of people in the last two months.

Amalau, who shouted about what he described as a systematic genocide and regulated to his people, asked the state government and security institutions to take steps to stop the wave of murder.

He also asked the Nigerian army, police, civilian defense, and community -based security operators, to act decisively in neutralizing the threats caused by criminal militias.

Amalau emphasized the need for intelligence collection, fast response, and spread of more personnel to vulnerable areas to prevent further attacks

In a statement he signed on Thursday and was available for Nigerian Ripples, the board’s BOS condemned the coordinated and insolent attack on the community in the council, especially in the principal, emphasizing that they were barbaric, inhuman, and direct threats to peace and coexistence.

He quoted last Sunday’s attack where a widow was killed while several houses, agricultural land, and property were destroyed, which he described as unnecessary and inappropriate.

“According to witnesses, in the attack, more than 500 military fulani armed down to the community in the coordinated attack, which resulted in the destruction of life and widespread property,” Amalau said.

While expressed deep concern and sadness over repeated attacks, the chairman regretted the loss of innocent lives and fear and greater movement between the population.

“This is not just an attack on Mushere, this is an attack on the soul of Bokkos. We cannot continue to witness our people being slaughtered and their livelihoods are destroyed in broad daylight. Enough is enough,” he said.
