Murder of Travelers: ‘You have lost control of Edo,’ PDP handles Okpebholo because of the suspension

The Democratic People’s Party (PDP) in Edo’s state accused on Sunday that the Monday Governor of Okpebholo had lost control of the country for criminals.

The party reacts to the suspension of the Commander of the State Security Network Corps (SSNC), Friday Ibadin, after the killing of last week M8K16 northern travelers by the mob in Uromi, the territory of the Esan-Timur Regional Government in the state.

PDP, in a statement issued by his publicity secretary in the state, Chris Nehikhare, said Ibadin’s suspension was an indication that the Okpebholo government was no longer related to the security established in the state.

The party stressed that the suspension of the SSNC commander was “clear recognition by the government that the architecture of state security has failed.”

This argues that the government classification of the perpetrators as illegal vigilante groups has increasingly revealed a coherent security framework under the current government and the continuation of the game of blaming that has been mastered.

The statement reads: “The classification of the new government from the perpetrators as illegal vigilante groups is only further explained the absence of a coherent security framework under the current government and the continuation of the game of blaming the government has been controlled.

“The suspension of the Commander of the Edo State Security Corps, CP. Friday Ibadin (RETD), is a clear recognition by the government that state security architecture has failed.

“The February 5 rebellion by members of the Edo Security Corps is a warning sign from the rooted inefficiency, but the Monday Senator Okpebholo chose to ignore it. Now, the Edo people paid prices with their lives.

“It is very sad that the vigilante group, which operates without proper supervision or registration, is permitted to take up arms and be involved in extra-judicial murder.

“This is an indictment of the failure of the Okpebholo government to regulate, train, and coordinate security efforts correctly in the state.”

PDP demands immediate arrest and prosecution of killers to prevent further loss of lives in the state.
