My wife saved me during my darker days -rooney

Manchester United’s legend, Wayne Rooney, has praised his wife, to be with him during the darkest days of his career.

The couple has been together since they were teenagers and married in 2008.

Colen has supported Rooney through the thick and thin ones, with the former captain of England opening on his battle against alcohol.

Talking to the former teammate Ferdinand River in its podcastThe former Everton striker declared that “he would be dead” without his support.

“Colen is huge. It’s bad because we are two children from Croxteth. We grew up together, obviously we started coming out and married, we had children,” he said.

“Since I was 17 years old, she knew I was a little there. I loved my football, I was obsessed with football, but I also loved a night departure.

“She had seen it very early, and controlled that, helped me control that massively. Sometimes she said: ‘What are you doing?’ How he has managed, it was as if a manager needed.

“What he has done … Sometimes it’s upset. I’m like, ‘What are you doing?’ But all he is doing is staying in this world and the best person.

“I am a bit different sometimes, and she keeps me on that path. He has done it for 20 years.”
