The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its operation in Delta Niger, destroying more than 100 illegal purification locations along with dozens of ships and other equipment related to oil theft.
According to a statement released on Sunday by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, a spokesman for Naf, missions were carried out by personnel from 115 special operating groups, which accommodated the Delta Safe operating air component. Between January and May 2025, the group executed more than 173 missions and 265 sort, with a total of about 270 hours of flying time.
Ejodame said, “Naf has intensified air operations in Delta Niger, noting significant success in the ongoing struggle against theft of crude oil and the protection of vital national assets. Through 115 SOGs, which hosted the air component from safe Delta operations, Naf had maintained a high tempo of air missions throughout the region, Disvantling. Discading.
“Between January and May 2025, the OPDS air components were executed by more than 173 missions and 265 sort, gathering about 270 flight hours to support joint military operations and independent attacks throughout the main oil -producing states including Ondo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River.

“During this operation, air strikes destroyed more than 100 illegal refining locations, 53 ships, 74 cooking tanks, 2 reservoirs, and several transportation vehicles.”
Air strikes have reportedly weakened the ability of oil thieves to carry out their operations. Ejodame explained, “These actions significantly decrease the capacity of oil thieves and recurrences that operate along critical corridors such as Buguma, IMO rivers, Harcourt ports, Okrika, Egbema/OHAJI, and decreased trans niger strategies. Infrastructure, Nigerian economic backbone.”
He added that the Air Force remained committed to sustainable kinetic and non-cinetic actions to revoke criminal networks that were rooted in the Delta Niger region.
