NAF kills five Boko Haram commanders in airstrike in Borno

The Air Component of Operation “Hadin Kai” has killed five Boko Haram commanders in an airstrike in Arina, South Tumbuns area of ​​Borno State.

The Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force (NAF), AVN Edward Gabkwet, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said Munzir Arika, Sani Dilla (alias Dan Hausawan Jubillaram), Ameer Modu, Dan Fulani Fari Fari, and Bakoura Arina Chiki were killed in the operation carried out on August 16.

He said the air operation was part of efforts to further weaken the activities of the remaining terrorists operating in the Northeast region, while protecting innocent civilians and troops.

Gabkwet said intelligence revealed a secret migration of terrorists to the area from neighboring locations prior to the mission.

He said: “Further Confirmation Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions were conducted on August 12 and August 15, identifying numerous terrorists and active structures hidden under the trees.

“Therefore, coordinated airstrikes were launched on the location, and the targets were successfully hit, resulting in the neutralization of a number of terrorists and the destruction of their structures.

“Battle Damage Assessment following the attack revealed that several pieces of equipment, vehicles, water vessels, and a suspected medical pharmacy were destroyed as a result of the attack.

“In addition, credible intelligence reveals that five key terrorist leaders were killed or seriously injured in the attack.

“This operation has, without a doubt, significantly reduced the operational capacity of the few remaining terrorists in the region.

“The Nigerian Air Force remains committed to supporting the efforts of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies in policing the region and ensuring that peace and security are maintained.”
