The Naira started the week on a positive note against the US dollar in the official window on Monday, September 9, 2024.
The local currency was trading at N1,580/$1 on the official window
to data from the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market (NAFEM).
This shows that N1,580/$1 is N13 lower than the N1,593/$1 the currency was trading at on the official window at the end of last week.
The highest and lowest intraday prices recorded during the day were N1,660/$1 and N1,570/$1 respectively, indicating a very tight spread of N90\$1.
The naira strengthened by N20 against the dollar in the parallel section of the forex market to trade at N1,655/$1 against the previous N1,675/$1.
The Naira also strengthened by N20 against the British Pound to trade at N2,180/£1 from N2,200\£1 previously.
The Canadian dollar closed flat against the naira and traded at N1.250|CA$1.
The Naira also strengthened by N20 against the Euro to trade at ₦1,800/€1 against ₦1,820/€1 the previous day.
