Naira up N5, trading at N1,505/$1 on official exchange

The naira gained its first in more than 10 days against the US dollar on Friday.

Data from the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market (NAFEM) showed the Nigerian currency strengthened by N5 to trade at N1,505/$1 on the official market today.

The currency was trading at N1,510/$1 on Thursday.

The intra-day high and low recorded during the day were N1,540/$1 and N1,430/$1 respectively, representing a slim spread of N110\$1.

However, the naira strengthened against the dollar in the parallel part of the market and traded at N1,525/$1, compared to N1,520/$1 traded the previous day.

The Naira also weakened by N20 against the British Pound Sterling and traded at N1,920\£1 compared to N1,900\£1 on the previous trading day.

The Canadian dollar continued to close flat against the naira and traded at N1.200|CA$1.

The Naira lost N10 against the Euro and is trading at ₦1,600/€1 compared to ₦1,590/€1 previously.
