Napoli’s new coach explains the possible agreement for Osimhen’s departure from Napoli and he misses training sessions

Serie A side Napoli manager Antonio Conte has given an update on Victor Osimhen’s possible departure from the team before the close of the summer transfer window. Own goal Nigeria.com reports.

Osimhen is free to leave the club before the end of the summer transfer window, but Napoli want a fee of around €100m for his transfer, and that has made his exit very difficult, especially as he did not have the kind of season that propelled them to the league title last time out.

Back in pre-season training, Osimhen, who is among the players preparing for the demands and methods of the new coach, still has his sights set on an exit from the team, something Conte addressed on Saturday.

Explaining the situation surrounding Napoli’s transfer window, Conte said: “After my signing, the most difficult thing was to realign the whole situation and put Napoli back at the centre of all the important business.

“The situation now allows us to be one step ahead thanks to everyone here, to the club and thanks to the players who have understood. I expressed myself very clearly and with a vision that is difficult to go against. Now the club is back in the spotlight.

Speaking specifically about Osimhen, Conte added:

“We are talking about Victor as a professional, an excellent, top-level player.

“I have spoken to him and he knows that absolutely nothing has changed. He belongs to Napoli and he knows that those who belong to Napoli have to work hard and have the right attitude, even if there is this kind of agreement, which we still don’t know how it will end.

“He is here with a smile and what counts right now is this afternoon’s training and his attitude towards me and my teammates.”

Meanwhile, Osimhen will not take part in the team’s training for the next two days as he suffered a muscle strain after the first day of work with the coach, who is known for his tough training methods in pre-season.
