Naptip rescued 20 victims traded from Guinea Equatorial, Togo

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (Naptip) has saved 20 victims traded from Guinea and Togo Khatulistiwa to Nigeria for forced labor.

Naptip press officer, Mr. Vincent Adekoye, who revealed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja, said that three suspects in organized criminal networks operating in Nigeria were arrested in operations carried out with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).

He added that operations carried out in the Federal Capital Region (FCT), Osun and Nasarawa are targeting their criminal and kingpin cells.

Adekoye said: “The arrest of these suspects is as a result of directions by the Director General of Naptip, Hajia Binta Adamu-Bello, to increase supervision in border communities throughout the country.

“This step is to stop the activities of some alleged crime syndicates that are believed to have infiltrated Nigeria from certain African countries.

“Naptip has also strengthened collaboration with law enforcement agencies and partners to bite unhealthy activities from criminal gangs in Tunas.

“The victims said they were deceived by members of the syndicate with promises of high-paid work in Nigeria.

“They process their documentation for the next trip to different locations in Europe, but they, however, are the target of the exploitation of a messy labor at the time of arrival in Nigeria.”
