Ndidi scores as Leicester beat Tranmere 4-0 in the Carabao Cup

Leicester City’s Wilfried Ndidi opened his goalscoring account of the season in style during a thumping 4-0 win over Tranmere Rovers in the Carabao Cup second round on Tuesday night.

The match, held at the King Power Stadium, saw the Super Eagles midfielder find the back of the net for the first time this campaign, marking a memorable moment as he donned his new number 6 jersey.

The Foxes dominated the game from the start, but it was Ghana international Jordan Ayew who opened the scoring just before the break with a superb goal, assisted by Harry Winks. The goal set the tone for a comfortable evening for the Premier League side.

Leicester doubled their lead shortly after the break in the 51st minute, with Stephy Mavididi calmly converting a penalty following a foul on Ricardo Pereira in the area, a move that had been sparked by a brilliant combination between Ndidi and Oliver Skipp.

Ndidi’s moment came in the 71st minute, when he capped an impressive performance with a well-taken goal. After a clever exchange of passes with Winks and Ayew, the Nigerian midfielder calmly slotted the ball past the Tranmere goalkeeper, putting the match beyond all doubt. His goal was a just reward for his tireless display in midfield, adding an attacking edge to his already solid defensive contributions.

Immediately after his goal, Ndidi was substituted and Steve Cooper brought on young English talent Will Alves to complete the remaining minutes.

At 27, Ndidi has started every game for Leicester City this season, proving his importance to the team. As the Foxes aim to secure their Premier League spot, Ndidi’s role will be crucial, and his goalscoring form will be a welcome boost for manager Steve Cooper.
