Ndlea arrested a former 80 -year -old inmate, an 82 -year -old woman, took a drug worth N3.2B

The National Narcotics Law Enforcement Agency (Ndlea), has announced the arrest of an 80 -year -old former inmate, Ayuba Ashiru, and an 82 -year -old grandmother, Uloma Uchechi, Sunday and her daughter, Chisom Uchechi, 32, in one of the raids conducted throughout the country.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Director, Media & Advocacy of Ndlea, Femi Babafemi, the agency said Ashiru who previously served a 10 -year prison sentence for drug violations between 2014 and 2024, was arrested on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in the Dogarawa area in the local government Sabon Gari, the State of the Kaduna Government.

According to Babafemi, agency operations found 2.3 kilograms of skunk which was packaged in nylon and paper the size of retail from it.

He stated that Uchechi was arrested when the operator, acted based on intelligence reports, raided his house on Saturday, May 17, in the village of Umuaguma Ntigha Uzor, where drugs such as metamfetamine, Tramadol, Sigung, and N130,600 cash were found from his daughter and daughter, seizure.

The statement reads:

“Two octogenarianism, an 80 -year -old grandfather, Ayuba Ashiru, and 82 -year -old grandmother, Mrs. Uloma Uchechi, Sunday, and her daughter, Chisom Uchechi, 32, in the top of the suspects captured by operators from the National Law Enforcement Agency, (Ndlea) in attacks carried out throughout the country.

“Ayuba had previously been arrested and prosecuted by Ndlea for violations of drug treatment, being sentenced and serving a 10 -year prison sentence between 2014 and 2024. He was once again arrested on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 on Jalan Barazana, Dogarawa Area in Sabon Gari Lga, Kaduna state by Ndlea officers who acted on trusted intelligence.

“As many as 2.3 kilograms of skunk which was packed in nylon and paper in retail size was found from him. He claimed to have been in drug trafficking for the past 46 years.

“Similarly, ndlea operatives in abia state on Saturday, 17th May, Raided the Home of 82-Year-Old Mrs. Uloma Uchechi Sunday at Umuaguma Ntigha Uzor Village where Different Quantities of Methamphetamine, Tramadol and Skunk, a strain of cannabis as well Exhibit of N130,600, were recovered from Her and Her Daughter, 32-Year-OLD Chisom Uchechi. The Grandma Confessed that he and his daughter took over drug trafficking after his son who started the business died two years ago.
