NDLEA arrested billionaire businessman who ‘swallowed’ 127 wraps of cocaine

Agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, have arrested a 52-year-old billionaire businessman, Ejiofor Godwin Emeka, after it emerged that he had ‘swallowed’ 127 wraps of cocaine that he was trying to smuggle into Nigeria.

NDLEA Director, Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi who disclosed the arrest of Emeka in a statement on Sunday, said the suspect who owns huge shops and boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha in Anambra State, has showcased himself as a very successful businessman who is the vanguard for his nefarious activities.

According to Babafemi, Emeka was intercepted on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, upon arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, via Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 941 after receiving reliable intelligence, and a body scan revealed that he had swallowed and hidden illegal drugs in his trousers.

“Ejiofor, who operates boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha, Anambra State, was detained by the NDLEA upon arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, via Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 941 on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, based on credible intelligence information. He was taken for a body check, which confirmed that he consumed illegal drugs and had some hidden in his private parts.

“A total of 58 wraps of cocaine were immediately recovered from his trousers after which he was taken for excretory observation where he expelled 69 cocaine pellets in seven excretions bringing the total number of wraps of the class A drug recovered from him to 127 weighing 1,388 kilograms.”
