Nduka Junior opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a powerful header, which was perfectly set up by Ismail Sodiq’s precise cross. The goal set the tone for the Remo Stars, who fought hard to maintain their lead despite AS FAR’s equaliser early in the second half. Sodiq Ismail restored the lead in the 60th minute, giving the Nigerian side a slim advantage going into the second leg.

As Remo Stars prepare for the return leg on Sunday, August 25, Nduka stressed the importance of staying focused.

“Today’s victory was vital, but we know the work is not yet done,” he said.

“Coming to Morocco with a one-goal lead means we need to stay focused and maintain the same winning mentality that got us here. The atmosphere there will be intense and we will be up against not only their team, but also their fans.”

Nduka acknowledged the challenges ahead, particularly the pressure of playing away from home in a hostile environment.

“We expect a tough game in Morocco. It will be a real test of character and endurance. Our coach has instilled in us the belief that we can win anywhere, but we have to maintain discipline and unity as a team,” he added.

The return match in Morocco will kick off at 9pm and Remo Stars will have to hold firm to advance in the CAF Champions League.

With Nduka Junior leading by example, the Nigerian side will look to complete the job and make a mark on the continental stage.
