●Appeals to the Committee for Reconciliation and Peace
The newly installed Board of Trustees of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, headed by Dr. Omo-Ehijele Frank Odafen, held its inaugural meeting on Monday as part of the launch of the University’s repositioning efforts.
The Vice Chancellor and Chairman of the University Council, who arrived at the Ekpoma campus on Monday along with other members of the Council, immediately began a tour of reconnaissance and assessment of the University’s facilities and installations.
Dr. Omo-Ehijele Frank Odafen and other members of the Governing Council, accompanied by the management team led by Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Asomwan Sonnie Adagbonyin, had the opportunity to see things first hand.
In a well-attended interactive session with academic and non-academic staff of the University, the Vice Chancellor informed the huge crowd of employees that “our appointment to the University’s Governing Board is intended to add value and help chart a path to restore the lost glory of the University.
“We will provide inclusive leadership that would allow everyone to contribute their share to the growth of our dear University. This is just the beginning of our interactive moments, as we intend to interface and consult with all the unions in the university.
“My dear brothers, sisters and colleagues, God has heard the cries of Ambrose Alli University. We have heard of the plethora of problems and we are determined to face them head on with your support and prayers.”
During the main interactive sessions, staff members had the opportunity to ask specific and direct questions, to which the Pro-Chancellor provided answers.
“In the future, we will establish a Reconciliation and Peace Committee that will be composed of all stakeholders and interested parties in the university community, where issues that may have generated animosity between us will be resolved, calmed and amicably in the interest of all of us,” said Dr. Frank Odafen.
Following consultations with a large number of staff members, the Vice-Chancellor and other members of the Governing Council held a closed-door meeting with the University’s senior management team.
