Nigerian international striker Victor Osimhen felt the full effect of the rigours of new Napoli coach Antonio Conte’s training methods after his first training session in the preparatory camp ahead of the start of next season.
Conte, who was appointed a month ago, is renowned for his gruelling pre-season training sessions, with many players, notably legendary Italian defender Giorgio Chellini, revealing that players were often left breathless and nauseous from the exertion.
Yesterday was his first session with Napoli and the effect was felt on the players, who scattered across the pitch at the end of the session, especially winger Cyril Ngonge. However, it seems that Osimhen was the one who felt the heat the most.
Even though he could leave the club before the end of the summer transfer window, Conte made sure the Nigerian took part in all the demanding physical exercises the team had yesterday.
Osimhen left the training ground with a large bandage and an ice pack on his ankle. He looked very uncomfortable as he left with a jerry can of water, the third he had taken after the session.
