In a historic move, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, is set to declare open the first-ever retreat for the Management and Staff of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The retreat is scheduled to take place at the Sandralia Hotel in Abuja on Wednesday.

The primary objective of the retreat is to conduct a comprehensive review of NPFL operations over the past year and formulate strategies for enhancement.
This marks a significant milestone as the first development study event in the history of professional football administration in Nigeria.
The agenda for the retreat includes a keynote address by NPFL Chairman, Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye, followed by the opening declaration by NFF President Gusau.
Prince Davidson Owumi, the NPFL Head of Operations, will present the first paper, offering an insightful review of past performance. This assessment will cover achievements and areas that require improvement.
The retreat aims to develop a strategic plan that defines the long-term goals and objectives of the NPFL. It will also establish standard operational structures and an organogram, presented by the Board Secretary.
Key subjects to be addressed during the retreat include NPFL finances, focusing on budgeting and resource allocation.
Marketing and Promotion will be another crucial topic, exploring ways to enhance the leagueβs commercial value and promotional strategies.
NPFL Chairman Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye emphasized the importance of developing commercial and work strategies to attract investors, particularly sponsors and partners.
He stressed the need for synergy between the Board, Management, and Staff to translate the vision into tangible outcomes.
βNo business can survive the tough market without developing commercial and work strategies to attract investors which in our industry are Sponsors and Partnersβ, Elegbeleye said on the idea behind the retreat.
He also noted that βit is important that the Board, Management and Staff hold such a session to synergize the vision of the Board and the operations of the staff.
We may not achieve a sync if the Board do not share its vision with the staff who are the ones to interpret and implement strategies to translate the vision to tangiblesβ.
The NPFL retreat is seen as a unique opportunity for knowledge-sharing and interaction between the Board and staff, fostering a collaborative environment to drive the leagueβs progress.
