NFF seeks world-class coach for Super Eagles after denying interest in Renard

The hierarchy of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) believes that the way to rescue the Super Eagles’ World Cup qualifying campaign is by hiring the services of a world-class coach. Own goal Nigeria.com reports.

Interest in attracting celebrity coach HervĂ© Renard to take charge of the Nigerian national team when he leaves his position as coach of the French women’s team after the Olympic Games in September has been reported in several media outlets.

However, as we reported yesterday, the NFF has denied the information, but an official said that talks are underway with a world-class coach to take over the team. A decision that, he said, will not be hindered by economic issues.

“People say we don’t have the money to hire a world-class coach, but we do. Even Jose Peseiro was one of the highest paid coaches when he was with us. So I don’t understand why people say we can’t afford to hire a world-class coach,” he said.

“We (NFF) have the above recommendation from the technical committee, but it is not mandatory to follow it. There is an opportunity to get a world-class coach and we plan to take advantage of it,” he concluded.
