NGX: Equity market maintains bullish sentiment as investors rake in N271 billion

The equity market maintained its bullish trend on Tuesday as investors earned N271 billion at the close of trading for the day.

This follows the increase in share prices of companies such as Total, Julius Berger, and John Holt among others on the trading floor.

After five hours of trading in the capital market, equity capitalization increased to N55.4 trillion from N55.1 trillion recorded by the bourse on Monday.

The All Share Index (ASI) also increased to 96,510.13 from 96,037.28 recorded the previous day.

Market breadth was positive as 47 stocks rose and 14 stocks fell, while 54 stocks remained unchanged in 8,302 trades.

Total, Julius Berger and John Holt led other gainers with 10% growth in share prices respectively to close at N619.30, N143.00 and N3.08 from N563.00, N130.00 and N2.08 per share respectively.

On the other hand, UPL, CUTIX and VITAFOAM led other price decliners as they fell by 9.58%, 6.25%, 5.17% respectively to close at N2.17, N3.00 and N18.35 from initial prices of N2.40, N3.20 and N19.35 per share.

On the volume index, VERITASKAP led the trade with 83 million shares worth N122 million in 355 deals followed by ACCESS CORP which traded 55 million shares worth N1.06 billion in 377 deals.

UNIVINSURE traded 29 million shares worth N95 million in 99 deals.

On the value index, ACCESS CORP recorded the highest value for daily traded shares worth N1.06 billion in 377 transactions followed by GTCO which traded equities worth N599 million in 255 transactions.

FBNH traded shares worth N519 million in 405 transactions.
