NGX: Equity market records loss first in 26 days

The Nigerian equity market yelled at the 26th day of consecutive days from Bullish on Friday with N516 billion losses for investors at the close of trading that day.

This follows a decrease in stock prices such as Abbey Mortgage Bank PLC, Custodian & Allied PLC and Deap Capital Management & Trust, among others, on the trading floor.

The Benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) fell to 145,754.91 points from 146,570.71 points recorded on the previous day.

After five hours of trading in the capital market, the capitalization of equity declined to N92,251 trillion from N92,730 trillion recorded by the exchange on Thursday.

The extent of the positive market, with 42 advanced shares, 29 shares declined, and the remaining 65 shares did not change in 35,036 offers.

Breweries Champion (Champion), Union Dicon Salt (Uniondicon) and Universal Insurance Company (Univinsure) leads other winners with 10% growth respectively in prices closed at N14.41, N9.91, and N1.10 from the previous N13.10, N9.00 and N1.00 per share.

Abbey Mortgage Bank PLC (AbbeyBDS), Custodian & Allied PLC (Kustodian), and Deap Capital Management & Trust (Deapcap) lead other prices 9.87%, 8.48%, and 7.53%decrease from stock prices at N6.30, N40.45 and N1.46 from N6.3. N4.40.45 and N1.46 respectively.

On the volume index, Linkage Insurance PLC (Linkassure) led trade with 585 million shares in 292 agreements, followed by Universal Insurance PLC (Univinsure), which was traded 213 million shares in 522 agreements.

AIICO Insurance PLC (AIICO), traded 178 million shares in 1,288 agreements.

In the value index, Semen Dangote (Dangcem), emerged as the top stock traded, gathered N7.2 billion in 894 agreements, followed by Zenith Bank PLC (Zenithbank), who traded equity worth N2.1 billion in 1,075 agreements.

MTN Nigeria (MTNN), the stock traded worth N1.9 billion in 1, 578 agreement.
