NGX: Investors returned from Sallah with losses of N47 billion

The equity market restarted from the Eid al-Fitr holiday with investors losing N47 billion by the end of the trading session on Wednesday.

This follows the fall in share prices, including CAVERTON, ABC TRANSPORT, and NB on the stock exchange floor today.

After five hours of trading on the capital market, equity capitalization fell to N56.4 trillion from N56.5 trillion recorded by the exchange on Friday.

Likewise, the All-Share Index (ASI) fell to 99,840.95 from 99,925.29 recorded on the previous trading day.

Market breadth was positive as 40 stocks advanced, 15 declined, while 70 remained unchanged in 9,899 trades.

UPL, GUINNESS and CHAMPION led other gainers with share price growth of 10%, 9.96% and 9.83% to close at N2.75, N66.25 and N3.24 from N2.50, N60.25 and N2 previously .95 per share.

On the other hand, CAVERTON, ABC TRANSPORT and NB led another price decline as they fell 9.62%, 9.52% and 8.37% respectively to close at N1.41, N0.57 and N29.00 from an initial N1.56 , N0.63 and N31.65 per share.

On the volume index, FIDELITY BANK led the trade with 1.046 billion shares worth N11.3 billion in 466 transactions followed by AIICO which traded 60.670 million shares worth N588 million in 293 transactions.

VERITASKAP traded 55.731 million shares worth N443 million in 103 transactions.

On the value index, FIDELITY BANK recorded the highest daily trading value of shares worth N11.3 billion in 466 transactions followed by GEREGU which traded equities worth N1.09 billion in 61 transactions.

MTN Nigeria traded shares worth N596 million in 454 transactions.
