Nidcom: over 959 Nigerians evacuated by Libya in 2025


The President/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (Nidcom), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa revealed that over 956 Nigerians were evacuated by Libya, in the first quarter of 2025.

He observed that this was obtained out of granting the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Nigeria and the National Commission for Refugees Migrants and the offices of the internal displaced people (NCRMI).

He said that the fault showed that 683 of them were females, 132 males, 87 children and 54 children, adding that the repatriages were brought home in six tranches from January to March 2025.

He revealed in a press declaration issued by the director of the media, public relations and protocols of Nidcom, Abdur-Rahman Balogun that the six trips included 152 on January 28; 145,180 and 159 on 11, 19 and 25 February, respectively, while 144 and 176 arrived respectively on 4 and 18 March.

The declaration states that in recent years over 15,000 blocked Nigerians have been evacuated at home by the Federal Government and the IOM.

Dabiri-Erewa reiterated the persistent advice of the Nigerian Commission to avoid dangerous and mortal migration paths such as Libya, a country devastated by the war. face many struggles
