Nigeria achieves a historic double in the African zone of the IHF Trophy

Nigeria recorded a historic double win in Zone 3 of the IHF Trophy Africa in Lomé, with the U-18 and U-20 teams emerging champions.

The U-18 team defeated Ivory Coast 32-19 in a dominant final, while the U-20 team claimed a 39-29 victory over Benin Republic to complete an impressive outing.

Both teams controlled their respective finals with disciplined performances and clinical attacking play, underscoring Nigeria’s growing strength in youth handball. The victories also confirm their qualification for the continental phase, where they will face the best teams from all over Africa.

The double success highlights ongoing efforts to develop the sport at grassroots level and signals Nigeria’s growing influence in youth handball on the continent.
