Nigeria has undergone a multi-sectoral transformation …

Nwabufo: Nigeria has undergone a multisectoral transformation in two years under Tinubu

Fredrick Nwabufo, Senior Special Assistant of President Bola Tinubu on the public commitment, in the medium -term scorecard of the administration. Nwabufo speaks with the results of the Tinubu administration in the last two years. He says that the president has provided Leadership Legacy defined by solid reforms that put the nation on a stable, propitious and vibrant trajectory.

Thecable: Tell us a little about your experience in the government from this part of the corridor and to go to your antecedents as a respected thought leader and voice in the media?

Nwabufo: My experience was full of events. My heart will always bless President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving me the rare opportunity to serve. My gratitude for him is eternal. He is an exceptional leader and the most charismatic, far -sighted, expansive, brilliant and big heart president that we have had for decades. As I always say, he is the president of all the Nigerians. We are blessed as a nation to have it.

Thecable: two years of the Tinubu administration have passed and some could say that it has not been achieved much.

Nwabufo: it will be absolutely wrong to suggest it. The Tinubu administration has not only renewed the hope of the Nigerians; He assured that the crops of good government perlays to every Nigerian, whether Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba. For the first time in Eons, we have a large government with a national perspective. This basically speaks of the construction of national cohesion. Leadership does not only concern brick and mortar. There are incorporeal aspects of the leadership. The psychological. People must know that the government worries and that it is for them regardless of who they are or where they love. They must have that sense of belonging.

On the appearance of bricks and mortar, I mean the tangibles; I will talk about milestones in some key sectors. On the economy; The economy is bouncing, with the inflation that is moving away from 33.7 percent in April 2024 to 28.3 percent in March 2025 and the nation that records a net change of exchange of $ 23 billion, the strongest position in over three years. The president restored the economy, putting it on the path of stability, growth and bouyancy. For example, the royal GDP grew by 3.0% (YOY) in Q1 2024 at 3.19%, 3.46% and 3.84% in Q2, Q3 and Q4 respectively. The growth rate of the actual GDP improved to 3.4% in 2024 from 2.74% in 2023. The actual nominal GDP for the year 2024 was N274.67 trillion, exceeding the expected goal of N236.3 trillion of 16.3%. In addition, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has collected a record of N21.66 trillion in 2024, reaching 111.6% of its revenue objective, with non -oil taxes that exceed the objectives of 28% and contributing with 73.4% of total revenues. In 2024 we recorded a balance of $ 6.83 billion in payments, a clear sign of economic rebirth and our external reserves increased by $ 6.0 billion to $ 40.19 billion by the end of the year 2024. We have a healthy balance and we satisfy our financial obligations, we put our financial obligations in contact, we put the losses through the losses through the losses digitization and filling these funds to stimulate the sectors to stimulate work creation. Another critical aspect are the programs designed for the Nigerians who work and young people. For example, to facilitate access to credit to the Nigerians, discourage subtle practices and generate a credit -based system, the president has set up the Nigerian Credit Corporation (Credicorp). He also established the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (Nelphund), in line with his promise of the campaign, to remove financial constraints for higher education for all Nigerian students. There are a plethora of initiatives aimed at young people because the president, as the father of the nation, understands that for us to see that Glorious Dawn, investments must be made today in young people.

For safety, the administration remained firm and decisive against terror, degrading the fighting capacity of terrorists, insurgents and violent extremists across the country. Investments from many million dollars have dedicated to the modernization of security architecture, there is an increase in the budget for defense and safety; The release of over 10,000 victims of kidnappings to Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Katsina, Taraba, Adamawa and many other states have been guaranteed; There is a drastic decline in terrorist attacks – the lowest in over a decade; There is the strengthening of physical safety between the oil producing communities and the presence of safety between the vulnerable frontier communities that firm up protection in all parts of Nigeria. With a combination of kinetic and non-chinatic measures, the attacks in the south-east were reduced by almost 75%. So much was done in this sector.

Thecable: there have been concerns about having resisted the democratic and civil space. The administration has been accused of capturing the state and having tried to push a state to a party on the nation.

Nwabufo: it’s ridiculous. President Tinubu is the most decorated democrat in our modern history. His democratic credentials are public knowledge. Let me speak a bit about how democracy has strengthened. Democracy essentially concerns institutions. Over the past 24 months, the administration of President Tinubu has made deliberated and valiant efforts to strengthen democracy and promote good government supporting institutional reforms, judicial independence and electoral integrity. His administration has ensured a more independent judiciary, has launched revisions of the electoral framework and supported tax decentralization to allow subnational governments to face emerging realities. With the appointment of mental reform officials, President Tinubu has shown a strong inclination for governance based on merit, while his reforms underline the push for better transparency of public contracts, the delivery of the service, the reconstruction of trust in public institutions and the deepening of democratic rules. The reforms of the Tinubu Administration on governance adopt a multidimensional approach, strengthening democratic institutions, guaranteeing judicial independence, electoral credibility, subnational empowerment and anti -corruption application. While the closing of the implementation gaps is in progress, especially as regards the responsibility of the local government, the governance strategy of President Tinubu demonstrates a long -term investment in institutional resilience.

Thecable: There seems to be more speeches on the economy.

Nwabufo: the economy is fundamental. Everything else revolves around it. But there is a multisectoral transformation-in all sectors-agriculture, infrastructure, health, education and economy. Just appoint it. There are three centers of cancer just built in Katsina, Enugu and Edo. Development is not unilateral. They are all sides. Transformation at the level of sectors.

Thecable: What should Nigerians expect in the next half of the administration?

Nwabufo: a more robust economy, a safer country, improved infrastructures, more jobs and, of course, the perception of macroeconomic earnings to more Nigerians.
