6: CAF to Launch African Clubs Association (ACA) to Elevate African Club Football

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to introduce the African Clubs Association (ACA), a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the quality, competitiveness, and commercial viability of African football clubs.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe made this announcement during a meeting with chairmen and senior representatives of 60 prominent football clubs in Africa.

The formation of the African Clubs Association (ACA) signifies CAF’s commitment to working closely with African football clubs, governments, sponsors, businesses, and CAF’s 54 Member Associations to bolster the overall state of African club football.

The ACA’s objectives are multifaceted and include:
1. Protecting and Promoting Club Interests: The ACA will advocate for the interests of African football clubs, ensuring they are represented, respected, and supported.

2. b The ACA aims to make African clubs commercially viable, globally competitive, and profitable entities.

3. Referee and Match Official Integrity: Ensuring that referees, match commissioners, and VAR operators are respected, credible, and independent, and maintain world-class standards.

4. Partnerships with Sponsors: The ACA seeks to establish partnerships with sponsors and businesses to support African clubs.

5. Infrastructure Development: Encouraging the construction of stadiums and football facilities that meet CAF and FIFA standards across all 54 CAF Member Associations.

6. Youth Development: Fostering youth talent development, academies for boys and girls, and elevating the overall quality of African club football to meet world-class standards.

President Patrice Motsepe expressed his dedication to working closely with African football clubs, governments, and stakeholders to achieve these objectives.

He emphasized CAF’s commitment to enhancing the appeal and quality of African club football for spectators and viewers worldwide.

The introduction of the ACA aims to foster collaboration, communication, and cooperation between CAF and African football clubs.

To officially launch the African Clubs Association (ACA), CAF will organize an in-person meeting in December, bringing together chairmen and presidents of the most successful and prominent football clubs in Africa.

CAF’s Secretary General, Véron Mosengo-Omba, and senior CAF staff are actively involved in preparations for the ACA’s launch in December, underscoring CAF’s commitment to driving positive change and progress in African football at both the club and continental levels.
