As the anticipation for the crucial quarter -final clash of the Flying Eagles against the Teranga puppies of Senegal, the secretary general of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, made a motivating visit to the team’s camp on Saturday night in the Mercure Hotel training in Isma’ilia.
During his speech, Dr. Sanusi urged the players to give everything in the next game, emphasizing the importance of ensuring a place in the FIFA World Cup U-20 upon reaching the semifinals.

“I want to let you know that the Nigerians are solidly behind you.” Dr. Sanusi told the team. “The president of NFF is passionate about youth football and is doing everything possible to ensure that this team has the support it needs.”
He stressed that the World Cup qualification was not only significant for players’ careers, but also for the country. “The World Cup ticket is crucial for you and for us. I urge you to play with your hearts and assure me that we assure you by moving to the semifinals.”
The meeting against Senegal is more than a knockout match. It serves as a direct entrance door to the FIFA World Cup U-20 2025. In the current format of the Caf U-20 Africa Cup, the four semifinalists automatically qualify for the global tournament.
This significantly increases bets, since both Nigeria and Senegal know that victory in this quarter of the final means hitting their ticket to the world stage.
Nigeria, a historically dominant force in youth football, is looking at a return to the world attention center after getting lost in previous editions.
Meanwhile, Senegal, which has shown an impressive form in the group stage, is equally hungry to reserve its place among the best in the world.
With so much at stake, national pride, career opportunities and the promise of global exposure, flying eagles are under intense pressure to offer a main performance on Monday.
