Bagalkot Police Inspector, Siddarth Goel, said Okechukwu was arrested in Mumbai by Cyber ​​Economic and Narcotics Police Operations (CEN) after detailed investigation.

According to the police, Okechukwu who lives in Shivaji Nagar Bonkode Ganv, Khalahe Thane, Mumbai, specializes in con artists through the Matrimonial website.

The police said the suspect allegedly created a false identity and targeted vulnerable women, especially divorce who wanted to remarry.

“In this particular case, he disguised himself as” Satya Amit, “a professional who should be based in London, and contact Indian women after finding his profile online,” the report said.

“Posing as a rich man who is ready to stay, he gradually gets his trust and promises to marry him.

“About a year and a half ago, Okechukwu reportedly called the woman, claiming he had landed in India but had problems with airport customs officers who allegedly confiscated foreign currencies worth Crore RS 1 which he brought to the country.

“Sanding stranded, he begged him to help him recover the confiscated money, saying he really needed Rs 5.5 Lakh to resolve this problem.

‘Trust him, the woman connects money through the RTG to the bank account she provides. However, immediately after receiving funds, Okechukwu cut all communication and disappeared. It was at this point that the victim realized that he had been cheated and filed a complaint with the cyberspace police in Bagalkot. ‘
