Nigeria wins the host rights for the 2nd African school games in 2027

Nigeria has officially received the host rights for the 2nd games of African schools, which will take place in 2027.

The announcement was made on Tuesday in Algiers, after a competitive bidding process that saw Nigeria triumph over other strong contenders, including South Africa and Kenya.

Reacting to the announcement, General Director of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Excmo. Bukola Olopade expressed his emotion and pride in Nigeria’s achievement:

“This is a great victory for Nigeria and for the future of sports development in the continent. Our successful offer is a testimony of the deranged commitment of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sports excellence.”

“It is also a reflection of the renewed mandate of hope, Nigeria is quickly returning to glory as the epicenter for sports excellence in Africa, while simultaneously increases our sports economy and improves our international image as a main destination for global sporting events. In 2027, Nigeria will offer an unforgettable experience for young athletes of the entire continent.”

Nigeria’s successful offer was largely influenced by his recent history of organizing top -level competitions, such as the National Sports Festival and the third Athletics Championship CAA Africa U18/U20, and other events, which were widely acclaimed by their exceptional organization, athlete and facilities experience.

Excmo Olopade also praised the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) for the confidence placed in Nigeria, ensuring that preparations will immediately begin to guarantee the highest standards.

The delegation that led Nigeria’s offer included the general director of the Nigeria Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade and president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Habu Gumel.
