The Defense Headquarters claimed on Friday troops deployed to various theater commands across the country killed 177 suspected terrorists last week.
Director of Defense Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
He said troops also arrested 263 others and rescued 158 hostages in various operations across the country.
Buba said the troops recovered 170 different types of firearms and 4,692 different types of ammunition, consisting of six PKT rifles, 63 AK47 rifles, three FN rifles, one SMG rifle, 29 locally assembled rifles, 37 Dane rifles and 20 pump-action shotguns.
He added that the total ammunition confiscated during the period was 2,100 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, 1,239 rounds of 7.62 mm NATO ammunition, 419 rounds of 7.62 x 54 mm ammunition, 212 rounds of 5.56 x 54 mm ammunition, and 722 live bullets.

“Several arms and ammunition caches were recovered while a total of 751 BH/ISWAP/JAS terrorist fighters and their family members surrendered to the troops across the theatre.
“In North-Central, Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke troops neutralized 25 insurgents, arrested 64 violent extremists, and rescued 42 kidnapped hostages.
“In the Northwest region, Operation Hadarin Daji troops managed to neutralize 52 terrorists, capture 41 terrorists, rescue 49 kidnapped hostages, and seize a number of weapons depots.”
