The National Assembly has emphasized that the Nigerian democratic system has become increasingly stable, without the threat of military disruption since returning to the civil government 26 years ago.
This certainty came during the induction ceremony held on Monday for 785 new staff members who were recruited at the A-Class event center in Abuja. Registrar for the National Assembly (CNA), Kamoru Ogunlana, emphasized the role of democratic sustainability in strengthening the legislative institution.
Represented by the Vice Registrar for the National Assembly, Engineer Bashir Yero, Ogunlana said the eternal democratic environment had allowed the legislature to grow “stronger, more professional, and more responsive to the Nigerians.”
Overcoming the inaugurated person, Ogunlana describes their entry into the legislature as a “decisive period” that demands a standard commitment, discipline, and high advantage.
“Working in the National Assembly is a call that demands more than academic qualifications,” he said.
“This requires knowledge of legislative practice and procedures, high moral standards, and strong personal discipline. You must understand the mission and vision of the assembly, embrace technology, update your knowledge continuously, and remain loyal and diligent in service.”

He further convinces the new staff of management commitment to their welfare, noting that salaries are paid without delay and that the 28-day allowance according to the law has been disbursed.
Ogunlana reminded employees that their role brings significant weight in a broader national context. “The National Assembly is a symbol of Nigerian democracy,” he said, “and your service contributes to strengthen governance and consolidate democratic benefits.”
This latest development follows the new Ogunlana promise to more than 3,000 legislative assistants who work with 469 federal parliament members, convincing them about work safety and increasing remuneration as part of the ongoing reform to increase efficiency in the assembly workers.
