The Federal Government has announced plans to establish Blood Collection Centres in all 774 local government areas, including the Federal Capital Territory.
This is done in an effort to address the ongoing problem of blood shortages that occur during medical emergencies and blood transfusions.
According to a statement issued by the Head, Media and Publicity, National Blood Services Agency, Abdullahi Haruna, on Saturday in Abuja, the initiative is aimed at ensuring the availability of blood during critical times.
Prof. Saleh Yuguda, Director General of the National Blood Services Agency (BNS), emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the blood shortage in the country.

The collaboration, according to Yuguda, aims to reduce blood shortages during medical emergencies and provide critical support to relevant security agencies. “We work together to ensure that our medical facilities are ready to handle emergencies, and this partnership is a testament to our commitment to saving lives,” he added.
