The Nigerian Wheelchair Basketball Federation has invited 16 players to a closed camp program ahead of qualifiers for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Angola.
The national camp will be held at Moshood Abiola National Stadium Package ‘B’ from March 8 to 21.
In the men’s category, the invited players are Shittu Musbau, Adetayo Emmanuel Kehinde, Abel Oluwaseun, Akinde Tony, Bailey Oluwasegun, Durowoju Taiwo Babalola, Mohammed Muritala and Rilwan Abubakir.
For the women’s team, guests include Olabisi Ijigbamigbe, Nofisat Adefala, Amakor Patricia, Aishat Yahaya, Christiana Olowolagba, Grace Nwaozuzu and Folashade Obagbemi.
The Commonwealth Games qualifiers will take place in Luanda, Angola, from March 22 to 27.
The President of the Nigerian Wheelchair Basketball Federation, Oluwaseyi Johnson, expressed confidence that Nigeria will excel in the championship.
Johnson said: “We are fully prepared and determined to excel at the 2026 IWBF African 3×3 Championships, which serves as a Commonwealth Games qualifier.
“Our players are committed and the coaching team is working tirelessly to ensure we perform well.”
He congratulated the National Sports Commission for its unwavering support.
Johnson added that with continued support and proper planning, Nigerian wheelchair basketball is on track to make the nation proud on the continental stage.
He said: “We appreciate the leadership of the National Sports Commission in creating a conducive environment for us to prepare properly.
“With this level of support and dedication from our athletes, I am confident that Nigeria will make the nation proud on the continental stage.”
