Nigeria’s prosperity, African blueprint for success, declare the World Bank

The World Bank has given a significant emphasis on the important role of Nigeria in shaping the future of Africa, stating that the construction of the continent depends on Nigeria’s ability to develop.

Ndiame Diop, Director of the World Bank State, articulating this view during the lecture series organized by the Department of Agriculture Economics at Ibadan University, where he underlined the in -depth impact of Nigeria in all African regions.

Giving a lecture entitled, “Utilizing the Transformation of Agriculture for Sustainable Economic Development in Nigeria: Main Consideration,” Diop begged Nigerians to take decisive actions to direct their country towards prosperity. “Africa will succeed if Nigeria is successful,” he said, emphasizing the important position of the state in the construction of continents.

He further stressed the importance of internal stability, expressing trust in Nigeria’s capacity for transformative changes: “Nigeria’s success is African success. If Nigeria is successful, Africa will succeed. The best way is to keep your home in the order, control your domestic policy. Nigeria has the will to do the right thing.”

Echoing the Sentiment Diop, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, highlighted the focus of the government on agriculture as the basis for economic revitalization. He detailed administrative commitment to overcome security, ensure food adequacy, and encourage competitive advantage in the agricultural sector.

“Agriculture is one of our top priorities. To develop the agricultural sector, we have taken security, food adequacy, and serious competitive advantage. We want to ensure that agriculture remains competitive,” Bagudu explained.

Realizing the challenges caused by the insecurity of the agriculture and fisheries sectors, Bagudu noted the establishment of special services. “Inequality affects the agricultural sector. Even fisheries. To overcome this, administration has now created the Ministry of Livestock and Blue Economy Development to create more opportunities,” he said.

He concluded by repeating the main goal of the government: “What we want to do is ensure that we produce enough food for citizens for profitability and sustainability.”
