Nine killed by Boko Haram Ieds at the Borno Village Bus Stop

At least nine people lost their lives when the Improvisation Explosives (IED) planted by Boko Haram terrorists exploded at the bus stop in Mairari Village, the Guzamala Regional Government Area (LGA) in Borno State.

Mairari Village is located about 18 kilometers from Monguno and about 119 kilometers from Maiduguri, the capital of the state.

The attack, which also made several others injured, occurred while passengers were waiting for transportation at the local bus stop.

Confirming the incident, Chairman of the State Council of Borno, RT. Hon. Abdulkarim Opponent, condemned brutal actions and asked the military to intensify the operation to free Guzamala Lga from Boko Haram’s grip.

“It is unfortunate that nine of my tough constituents were killed by Ied who was planted today while waiting to ride a vehicle at the local bus stop in the village of Mairari. May Allah give their soul Aljanatul Firdaus.

Highlighting the need for security and civil government, the speaker showed that Mairari, who had previously been settled twice, was still abandoned because of the continuous Boko and Iswap attacks.

“You are aware that the Mairari village which until now is the only village that was pronounced twice with civil authority in all regions of the Guzamala Regional Government remained quiet again because of the Boko Haram/Iswap attack,” he explained.

He also noted that displaced residents, who often returned from Monguno, Guzamala, and Maiduguri to work on their agriculture in Mairari, were targeted by rebels.

“As a formidable person, most of those who take shelter in Monguno, Guzamala and Maiduguri usually visit the Mairari community and are involved in their farms. Unfortunately, some terrorists who have monitored their movements to go and plant Eid at local bus stops that explode while waiting to join commercial vehicles back to their area,” he said.

The opponent’s speaker praised the security forces under the new Hadin Kai Operational Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, while urged the military to reclaim the entire regional government territory.
