Nis Boss promises to raise the detection to greater heights

The recent president inaugurated of the Nigerian institution of surveyors (NIS), the leader Pio Chukwuemeka Eze, has committed himself to lifting the institute to “unprecedented heights”.

Eze, the 24th President of the Institution, held his commitment over the weekend in his acceptance speech after his inauguration at the end of the annual 59th/conference held at the International Conference Center, ICC, Enugu.

The surveyor Eze, who praised the past executive led by Prof. Matthew Olomolatan Ibitoye for his efforts in transforming the profession, undertook to improve the inheritance and urged his colleagues to join him to update the dream of transforming the profession.

“I ask every member, young and experienced, to join me on this transformative journey. We build the proud legacy of those who in front of us and raise the Nigerian institution of surveyors with unprecedented heights,” he urged.

He explained how he intends to transform:

“We will exploit cutting -edge technologies from the analysis of geospace data to digital mapping to transform the way we examine, plan and build our communities.

“Continuous professional development will be our milestone. I am committed to ensuring that each member has access to world -class training and resources to excel in their field.

“The future of the investigations lies in our youth. We will possess tutoring programs, scholarships and career paths to cultivate the next generation of leaders and we will amplify our voice in political circles that support critical surveyors in sustainable development, in the management of the territory and in national security,” he said.

The main speaker of the occasion, Prof. Christian Anieke, of Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, evaluated the main role of detection of the role in society and said that no surveyor would go to hell.

“I don’t think any surveyor will go to the infernal fire due to the role of importance they play in society,” said the priest deputy chancellor.

Anieke cited some scriptures to demonstrate that the profession of detection has spiritual connotation and stressed that artificial intelligence, the IA and the improvement of sciences can never move the practice of the survey.

“Artificial intelligence, cloud computing is making people nervous that the IA will hire our work. It could be a very powerful tool but cannot be aware of our work.
.
“New technologies cannot replace human beings. It is help, but it will not take on the work of men. Human beings still remain crucial in the interpretation of the data,” he assured.

While recognizing the importance of artificial intelligence, the main rapporteur said that “Ai is transforming the detection work, surveyors are still very important,” he said.
