The Senate Committee on Public Accounts on Friday summoned the Chief Executive Officer of the Group (GCEO) from the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, for countless funds.
The Chair of the Committee, Senator Ahmed Wadada, issued directions during the short session of the Committee in Abuja after NNPCL officials failed to appear as expected.
He said the committee would be forced to issue an arrest warrant if Ojulari failed to appear before parliamentary members on July 10.
NNPCL management was invited by the senate after the audit report last week revealed the N210 trillion which was allegedly not calculated by the company between 2017 and 2023.
NNPCL, in a letter signed by Adedapo Segun on behalf of Gceo and read by the committee officer, Sani Abdullahi, asked for an additional two months to prepare a detailed response about the problem.
During the briefing, the Deputy Chief of Refuge rejected the request and condemned the absence of NNPCL officials.

He described NNPCL’s leadership actions as total neglect of the committee.
“We hope that representatives from NNPCL will be in front of us today to answer the questions thrown to them last week about the problems or questions raised in the audit report before us.
“Their absence is unacceptable and as a result, this committee gives related officials from NNPCL ten working days from today, which ended on July 10.
“This committee does not expect any documents from NNPCL today, but the answers to eleven questions thrown at their representatives last week.
“Therefore, NNPCL GCEO must appear before us on July 10 for the expected answers,” said the chairman.
Wadada also stated that the committee could adopt audit questions against other default agents.
“These bodies are the FCT High Court and the Federal Mineral, Steel and Finance Ministry. If they fail to appear before the committee on Tuesday next week, they will hear from us, ” he added.
