A coalition of Nigeria Oilwatch, of the alliance of the rights of workers and citizens interested in Watch organized a large event outside the headquarters of the Commission for economic and financial crimes (EFCC) in Abuja on Thursday, asking for the immediate arrest and pursuit of Bayo Ojular, managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL group) group.

The groups accused Ojular of having enabled a scandal on the corruption of ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦

The group said that the transaction immersed Nigeria in a trusted crisis and threatened the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The event, frequented by hundreds of Nigerians, including oil operators, activists and worried citizens, was unleashed by the recent detention of Abdullahi Bashir Haske, a close collaborated of Ojulari.

Haske confessed to the FCC that the 21 million dollars found in his account – equivalent to ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ ₦ oust account

“This is money that could have transformed our hospitals, schools and streets,” said Oilwatch Emmanuel Ekpeyong in Nigeria.

He said to the press: “Instead, he was presumably hidden by the greed of a man. We ask for justice now!”

The coalition has outlined a litany of accusations against Ojilari, including living an extravagant lifestyle in the presidential suite of the Wells Carlton Hotel, orchestrate Conchiglie for contractual fraud and appoint unqualified loyalists in NNPCL key positions.

“Ojilari’s actions are a betrayal of every Nigerian who struggles to survive,” said Danladi Usman of the alliance of workers’ rights.

According to him: “His clientelism paralyzed nnpcl and the trust in our oil sector eroded”.

Further accusations include the alleged interference of Ojilari with EFCC investigations to protect the allies, a Babunde Anifowoshe move of the citizens interested Watch called “an affront in the rule of law”.

Anifowoshe said: “By allowing Ojulari to walk free, he undermines the promise of President Tinubu of renewed hope. The EFCC must act and the president must fire him immediately”.

The requests of the coalition were that: the EFCC must arrest and pursue ojilari for its alleged role in the scandal ₦ 34.65 billion and other corrupt practices and that President Tinubu must remove it from NNPCL.

“This scandal is only the tip of the iceberg,” Ekpeyong warned.

He said: “An in -depth investigation on Ojulari’s relationships is essential to discover the full extension of this corruption”.

To amplify their call, the coalition has announced a peaceful three -day protest starting from 1 August 2025, targeting the National Assembly, the NNPCL headquarters and the EFCC office in Abuja.

“We march until justice is served,” said Usman, urging the Nigerians – Youth, women and workers – to join the movement.

Read it: “This is a struggle for the soul of our nation, for a Nigeria in which the wealth of oil benefits everyone, not just a few”.

The rally exerted significant pressure on the EFCC and on the administration led by Tinubu.

The coalition warned that the inaction risked further economic sabotage and public disorders.

Anifowoshe said: “The Nigerian people deserve transparency and responsibility. We will not rest until Bayo Ojulari will be held responsible for this ₦ 34.65 billion of scandals”.

The EFCC has not yet commented on the requests of the coalition.
