No amount of cover-up can deny the fact that there is genocide in Nigeria’ —Prophet Isa El-Buba

Popular Pastor in Jos, Plateau State, Prophet Isa El-Buba, has refuted the Nigerian government’s denial that there was no religious genocide in any region of the country, following several allegations leveled by some members of the US Congress.

In a message he shared on his social media account on Wednesday, Nabi El-Buba, president of Jos-based El-Buba Outreach Ministries International, appeared to support the allegations as he said there is no reason to deny the fact that Christians are being killed, especially in the northern part of the country.

In a passionate message he delivered to Nigerians, El-Buba condemned what he described as the ongoing genocide against Christians and Middle Belt communities in Nigeria, and accused the government of covering up the scale of the atrocities taking place.

The cleric said Nigerians must rise above deception and defend the integrity of the nation by facing the truth about the widespread killings across the country.

According to the Prophet, no less than 7,087 Christians were killed in the first 220 days of 2025, which means an average of 32 deaths every day. He also cited records showing 3,100 deaths in 2024 and 4,118 between October 2022 and September 2023.

Referring to the 2023 Christmas massacre in Plateau State in which more than 300 Christians were killed, as well as a separate attack in Benue State, El-Buba said more than 500 lives were lost that year alone.

“There is an ongoing issue of genocide in Nigeria against Christians or the people of the Central Beltan. It is true. We cannot deny it,” El-Buba said in his message.

‘Christian communities are completely displaced, and we have recorded tens of thousands of Christians in Northern Nigeria killed and their communities looted. This is genocide.

“I took part in the funerals of tens of thousands of Christians who have been crushed and killed in this great country,” he lamented, urging the federal government to act decisively against the violence, regardless of the religion or ethnicity of the victims.

He also rejected the president’s aides’ claim that there was no genocide in Nigeria, calling the statement a complete lie.

“You can try to cover it up but we all know that what is happening in Nigeria is genocide and nothing else,” said the man of God.
